Cafe Church Ryde in February will be looking at the topic of long term love. We’ll be posting more details here soon, but if you want to get the date in your diary it will be on Wed 17th Feb from 7.15pm in Thorntons, Ryde.
Welcome to 2010! As January is typically a time for money worries we will be addressing the subject of money at January’s cafe church. Our real life story will be from someone with experience of bankruptcy and recovering from it. We’ll discuss some practical tips on money and see what the bible has to say on the subject. Plus there will be the usual quiz with chocolate prizes. Anyone is welcome to come along, join in as much or as little as you want! Have a rummage around the site for more info on what Cafe Church is all about.
20th January 2010, drinks and cakes on sale from from 7.15 @ Thorntons, Ryde.
Edit: We said at Cafechurch that we would provide some links related to this topic and the material covered, so here they are.

Why not join us for carols at Thorntons this year? On the 16th December from 7.15 you’ll have a chance to enjoy a coffee and some festive singing, as Cafe Church abandons its standard format and dedicates the evening to Christmas music and good conversation. The evening will also feature appearances from members of local band Eternal Flame and the Isle of Wight Gospel Choir.
We’ve even pushed the boat out and will be offering free mince pies when you buy a drink. Numbers are limited though, so make sure you’re there from the start!
Cafe Church tonight will aim to help you Relate to the Relatives in the run up to Christmas. All welcome from 7.15 at Thornton’s Coffee Shop, Ryde.

Due to some technical difficulties we are currently reworking the whole website. Please bear with us during this period where you may see drastic and sometimes unpleasant changes as we experiment to get the site right! Normal service wil be resumed soon.
From September Cafe Church will be moving to Thorntons in Ryde. We would like to thank the staff at Costa in Ryde for their support during our pilot of Cafe Church in the first half of 2009, they have all been supportive and helpful throughout. Thanks also to Costa HQ for supporting the growth of Cafe Church on the Island and across the country. The decision to move was not an easy one for the CC team, but in the end restrictions placed on what we could do by Tesco forced our hand.
Fortunately Thorntons came to our rescue, quickly agreeing to host Cafe Church from September onwards. The new venue is bigger and offers us a number of new opportunities. It’s also right in the centre of town. The coffee is good too, we made sure the team did a quality control check!
Dates and topics for the rest of the year are:
Wed 16th September – If music be the food of love…
Wed 21st October – Street Pastors
Wed 18th November – Relating to Relatives
Wed 16th December – Christmas, what’s the point?
Wed 18th March and Wed 15th April (TBC) are the next cafechurch dates.
Apologies for the lack of site updates, it has been a busy time here in cafechurch towers. The first cafechurch session came and went without us even posting about it. We have some video footage from that and the launch, but not enough time to edit it yet! We hope to get some videos up soon. The first event was great, we had two interesting speakers, lots of discussion and of course plenty of coffee and cake. We picked up on a few things that need to be tweaked next time, and hope that March’s event will be even better.
Wow. Just back from the launch of Cafechurch in Ryde. We made the right choice hosting it elsewhere rather than at Costa for this event, as there were over 65 people there. The buzz was great, if Cafechurch at Costa has the same feel it will be great fun. There will be a full update and hopefully some video clips soon, after the team have all had some sleep!
Cafe Church in Ryde is being launched on th 21st January. Our normal venue will be Costa Coffee in Ryde but the launch event will be at Ryde Methodist Church Hall in Garfield Road in the centre of Ryde. The evening will provide a taste of what’s to come in Costa – come along to find out more.
